Insects on lilies

Question: how do I get rid of insects from my lilies?

I planted tiger lily bulbs so many years ago. Unfortunately when the seedlings came out, red beasts came, similar to ladybirds, making "zum-zum" and leaving their young ones under the leaves that devour everything. ? What can I do?

Insects on lilies: Answer: how to recognize harmful insects

Dear Marisa,
without a photograph it is difficult enough to understand what insect it is, and even if the problems to your lilies are due to them; among the insects "similar to ladybirds" the carabiniere insect Pyrrhocoris apterus comes to mind, or a small elongated insect, red, with black zoning (like a hypertrophic ladybug and flattened); this insect feeds on plant sap, but generally without causing damage, also because it generally prefers trees and large shrubs; sure that if many of these insects nest under the leaves of your lilies, they can surely cause their decay. But if the problem is that the leaves are chewed up, it is not a carabiniere insect, or you see these insects, but they are not the ones who eat the leaves, as they simply suck the sap from the plants.
A photo taken from wikipedia shows you very well the shape and colors of these insects, which are generally less than a centimeter long.
Generally, when gnawing is noticed on the foliage of ornamental plants, it is oziorrinco, a beetle of modest size, which at night feeds on leaves, and therefore it is not easy to see it at work; these insects are doubly harmful, as the larvae overwinter in the soil, and feed on the roots of the plants; they are similar to small white worms, and are sometimes noticed during spring repottings; the adults, on the other hand, are small black beetles, endowed with a sort of proboscis on the snout, with which they nibble the leaves. If it is oziorrinco you should notice on the leaves of the crescent-shaped gnaws.
The larvae are fought using a product against terrestrial insects, which is easily found in the nursery; for adults, on the other hand, pheromone traps are used, or products based on pyrethrum, which however are not always successful.
